AMERICAN SOCIETY OF WOMEN ACCOUNTANTS
JOINS NATIONAL WOMEN'S HISTORY MUSEUM COALITION

March 4, 2011 (McLean, VA) -- The American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) is pleased to announce that it has joined the National Coalition of the National Women's History Museum (NWHM). Founded in 1996, NHWM is a nonprofit educational institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting and celebrating the diverse contributions that women have made to our society. The NWHM National Coalition is composed of influential national women's professional and service organizations that support NWHM's mission.

"Women's History Month is a wonderful time to announce ASWA's membership in the National Coalition of the National Women's History Museum,” said Vivian Moller, ASWA 2010-2011 National President. "Promoting the value of women's contributions is central to the mission of ASWA, so we embrace the opportunity to help advance NWHM's important work.”

With a special emphasis on reaching teachers and students, NWHM delivers education on women's history through online resources, traveling exhibitions, events, and programs. Acquiring a permanent site on or near the National Mall in Washington, DC, for the National Women's History Museum is an immediate objective of the National Coalition.

"We're excited to join this coalition of prestigious women's organizations,” commented Lee Lowery, CAE, ASWA Executive Director. "ASWA looks forward to collaborating with NWHM and other members of the National Coalition to recognize the role of women in transforming society.
