The scholarship recognizes superlative achievement by ASWA members enrolled in a PhD degree program and majoring in accounting. Scholarship funds will be awarded for research costs.

"Deciding to pursue a PhD in accounting may be one of the biggest decisions of your life,” said Susan Adams, CPA, 2011-2012 Foundation Scholarship Chair. "The ASWA Educational Foundation recognizes the value of supporting ASWA members in reaching these academic and professional goals.”

Scholarship candidates will be reviewed on leadership, character, communication skills, scholastic average and financial need. Applicants will submit a short essay explaining their reasons for pursuing a PhD in accounting and how they would advocate for women in the accounting profession. The submission deadline is March 1, 2012, and the full application can be downloaded from the ASWA website.

The ASWA Educational Foundation also awards Master’s Scholarships to students enrolled in a master’s program pursuing an accounting or finance degree. Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded to support the cost of attending 3rd, 4th, or 5th year when pursuing an accounting or finance degree.
